Pressure washing Southport

Driveway, Patio & Block Paving Cleaning in Southport

If your drive's gone green or black, we'll get it back to the colour it was when it went down. Block paving, concrete, tarmac or stone.

Getting the colour back

Drives take a battering. Weather, car tyres, oil drips, and the damp we get round here all add up. Moss gets into the joints, black spots spread across the slabs, and the colour slowly disappears under the grime.

Drives and patios are some of the jobs we're asked for most. We clean them with hot water from the boiler in our van, up to 150°C. It shifts the oil and grime that a cold jet wash just moves around. On natural stone and more delicate patios we turn the pressure down and the heat up, so the heat does the cleaning and the stone doesn't get marked.

What we clean

  • Block paving drives, cleaned and re-sanded
  • Concrete and tarmac drives
  • Paved and natural stone patios
  • Paths, walkways and steps

How it works

  1. Free site visitWe come and look at the job first, so the price is accurate. You'll know it before we start.
  2. The cleanHot water for most drives and patios. On delicate stone we turn the pressure down and the heat up, so it's more of a steam clean. We get the dirt, moss and staining out of the surface and the joints.
  3. Rinse downEverything we've lifted gets rinsed away, so you're not left with muck in the borders.
  4. Re-sandingWashing takes the old sand out of block paving joints, so we put fresh sand back in. It locks the blocks and gives weeds less to grow in.
  5. BiocideOptional, but worth it. It kills off the spores, so the algae takes a lot longer to come back.

Steps, decking and paths

Muck builds up over time, and once algae is on steps or decking it's slippy every time it rains. We clean those too, so they look better and they're safer to walk on.

Driveway and patio questions

How much does driveway cleaning cost?

It depends on the size of the drive, what it's made of and how much moss and staining there is. We come out and have a look before we give a price, and the site visit is free. Give us a call on 07704 237470, send an email or use the form to book one in.

Do you re-sand block paving after cleaning?

Yes. Pressure washing pulls the old sand out of the joints along with the dirt and weeds, so we re-sand block paving once it's clean. Fresh sand locks the blocks together and leaves the weeds less room to come back.

How often should a patio be jet washed?

For most gardens, once every year or two is plenty. Patios in the shade, under trees or next to a lawn go green quicker. A biocide treatment after the clean slows it down, so you can leave it longer between cleans.

Will the moss and weeds just grow back?

Washing gets rid of what you can see, but the spores stay in the joints and the pores of the stone. That's why we offer a biocide treatment afterwards. It kills off what's left, so the surface stays clean a lot longer.

Should you pressure wash block paving?

Yes, block paving comes up really well with hot water. It lifts the dirt, oil and moss out of the blocks and the joints, and brings the colour back without damaging them.
